Apparently, 30GB Zunes everywhere have been participating in a synchronised failure - if they were turned on, they restarted; if not, the issue manifested when they were next turned on.
The issue? Freezing, with a full loading bar. This, naturally, makes them completely useless, except as paper weights - unless MS manage to release a firmware update which fixes it, or something.
Via GizmodoUpdate:Microsoft say it'll
magically fix itself if you leave it frozen to drain the battery, then charge it up and turn it back on AFTER noon (GMT) on the 1st of January, 2009. Word on the street is that it's something to do with the leap year.

So, a while ago I inherited an email address from an ex-employee. This means that I sometimes get emails from companies I've never heard of, some of which interest me and some of which don't. I clicked the "unsubscribe" link in one that fell into the latter category, only to be greeted with this:

I have no idea what would happen if I were to leave it on "subscribe" and hit the save button - but probably much the same as what I got when I chose "unsubscribe" and hit it: a page which was completely blank, aside from the same header in the screenshot above. No mention of whether I've been unsubscribed or not - just a blank page.

Or, The Fast and the Furiously Waiting:
"Networking enabled ... but IP address not valid"
"Waiting 15 seconds for IP address to become valid"
They say that "time cures all" - but I doubt that it makes invalid IP addresses become valid.

Or, How Not To Rent A House (or advertise for advertisers):
And some close-ups of the writing on the wall (yes, they have abbreviated "advertisements" to "adds"):

Spotted in Omarama, at opposite ends of a carpark:
No, you didn't misread that - one of these signs, despite looking exactly like a "NO ENTRY" sign, says "ENTRY." At a glance, you're almost certain to think it's "NO ENTRY" and head to the other end - only to be greeted by another sign telling you you've got the wrong end.
